* Functional exercises aimed at developing core strength against the resistance of springs in various positions, including standing, sitting, prone, and supine.
* Applying the Five Basic Principles of STOTT PILATES® to Basic and Intermediate level Stability Chair exercises.
* Gaining a deeper understanding of movement essence and training objectives, executing correctly, and engaging muscles effectively.
* Enhancing core stability, peripheral strength, and mobility on a single piece of equipment.
* Options for pedal adjustments to modify exercises by increasing resistance unilaterally, bilaterally, and transitioning between strength and balance.
* Modifications and adjustments to ensure safety and effectiveness.
Building upon the foundation of the IMP or IR course, you will learn how to design and guide exercises for students on the STOTT PILATES® Stability Chair apparatus at the Basic and Intermediate levels. Level 1 provides training for personal or group instruction settings for various clients.
Total module duration: 40 hours
All courses must include a minimum number of hours for observation, teaching practicum, and physical assessment, to be completed between any STOTT PILATES® facility sessions. Students may be required to undergo additional training to meet standards prior to certification. The quantity of teaching practicum hours and physical review must be recorded outside of classroom hours. Practicum logs must be submitted by your examination date (written or practical exam). If a student does not submit all of these practicum logs within 7 days from the final portion of the assessment, the entire assessment will be voided.
The observation hours can be recorded in homework assignments of the relevant course or after STOTT PILATES® courses, and can be accumulated by watching STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructors teaching clients (in-person or online), as well as watching related course videos on DVDs or through Merrithew Connect™. We recommend that you complete 50-80% of your hours by observing STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructors. Please ensure you have obtained permission from Merrithew Training Center and/or have communicated with the Instructor beforehand.
Physical review hours entail physically practicing the exercises you've learned in class. The practical examination of the material is highly important to ensure that you fully comprehend it within your own body before attempting to teach others. This is also crucial as it readies your body for the increasing challenges at each level of exercises as you transition through the Training Course aimed at becoming a STOTT PILATES® instructor. Participating in a class with a STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor or working out with related course videos on DVDs or through Merrithew Connect can be considered as physical assessment hours and can be completed individually or with fellow students.
Students can take part in an online Pilates session or join an online group Pilates class taught by a STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor. Students can also attend Merrithew's online Workshops (offered by Merrithew Training Centers worldwide or Corporate Training Centers).
Teaching Practicum hours can be completed by instructing segments of STOTT PILATES® courses to family members, peers, friends, or clients, providing cues and corrections to them through an exercise. Teaching Practicum can be performed in person or by utilizing online video conferencing platforms, such as Skype or Zoom.
